The Financial Institution Act B.E.2551 (2008) regulates all banking systems in Thailand. This act clearly sets out the type of business a bank may undertake, and stipulates laws that cover branches of foreign commercial banks, subsidiary branches or commercial banks for small businesses.
Each high street bank has individual procedures for opening an account in Thailand, and the process is relatively straight forward.
